Bank robbery suspect had been gambling

The Mobile man accused of robbing a D'Iberville bank on Monday had been gambling at Coast casinos, said D'Iberville Police Capt. Keith Davis.

William Aaron Thomas, 21, is held at the Harrison County jail. Justice Court Judge Bruce Strong set bond at $50,000 pending an initial court appearance.

Thomas was captured shortly after a holdup at Trustmark Bank at Lakeview Village shopping center on Sangani Boulevard.

Police officials said Thomas told arresting officers he had just swallowed several over-the-counter pain-relievers before they stopped his vehicle on Lamey Bridge Road at Mississippi 15.

Thomas was taken to Biloxi Regional Medical Center and was transported to jail Monday night.
