Couple charged with growing marijuana

A man and woman are in jail today on cultivation of marijuana charges after narcotics agents seized 90 full grown marijuana plants at their home on Jim Ramsey Road, Curtis Spiers, commander of the Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County said.

Jeremy Todd Smith and Michell Ann Mascaro, both 32, were arrested last Tuesday after narcotics agents served a search warrant on their home and discovered the marijuana plants hidden in an enclosed room that had been added on to their mobile home.

The only access to the room, Spiers said, was through a small door hidden inside a bedroom closet at the home.

Smith and Mascaro were jailed in Jackson County pending a bond hearing.
