A man awaiting prosecution on charges of firearm violations is back behind bars, held without bond on a kidnapping charge.
Gulfport police arrested James Arthur Evans on Tuesday, just days after he bailed out of jail from his most recent arrest. Evans, 24, has served time on felony convictions including burglary and was found with handguns in his vehicle on Friday, according to police. One of the weapons is believed to be stolen.
Convicted felons are prohibited from being in possession of a firearm.
Details of the kidnapping charge are sketchy this morning, but the county jail docket shows he was arrested on Cuandet Road. Police also charged Evans with misdemeanor domestic violence.
