Narcotics officers break up marijuana cultivation operation

Residents of a Creosote Road home are accused of cultivating marijuana and selling it out of their house, said Gulfport Police Chief Alan Weatherford.

Arrested in the 9400 block of Creosote were Charrick Mitchell and Greg Anderson, both 21, and Karla Kelsey, 18. He said the arrests were made Tuesday with a search warrant executed by his narcotics unit and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.

Officers also seized $900 in cash and a semi-automatic handgun.

The home is within 1,500 feet of a church, which means the suspects could face double penalties if convicted, said Police Sgt. Chris Ryle.

Mitchell is charged with cultivation of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute. Kelsey is charged with cultivation. Anderson is charged with felony possession of marijuana.

Bonds were set at $150,000 for Mitchell and $50,000 each for Kelsey and Anderson.
