The most searched word definition in Mississippi isn’t for a word that’s obsolete. In fact, it’s a word that many people use multiple times a day.

Mississippians — along with many Americans — are often trying to define the word love, according to a July 9 ranking by Word Unscrambler, an online tool for solving scrambled letters.

The word love is the most looked up definition in the Magnolia State, and the second-most searched word definition across the United States, averaging more than 274,000 searches per month, the ranking found.

Similar to love, many of the top searched words for 2026 are abstract concepts, according to the ranking.

“People are searching for definitions to better understand personal experiences and public conversations,” a spokesperson for World Unscrambler said in a July 9 news release.

Here’s how Mississippi’s most searched word compares to the rest of the U.S.
