Vote for your favorite restaurant for catfish on the MS Coast
If there’s one dish Mississippians don’t play about, it’s catfish.
In 2025, the Magnolia State ranked first in the country for production of farm-raised catfish, yielding more than 65% of the fish, according to the Mississippi Department of Agriculture & Commerce.
Recently, catfish — both fried and blackened — was recognized as the state’s favorite dish by National Geographic. When the Sun Herald reported this recognition in June, we received a lot of feedback from our readers.
So, we asked readers directly which spots they thought were the best on the Coast for catfish. Now, it’s time to put the nine options readers gave us to a vote!
How will this work?
The first round of voting, which includes all submissions, begins today and will be open until the end of the day on July 19.
We’ll narrow down the top three restaurants for a final round of voting taking place from July 20 through the end of the day on July 23.
The winner will be announced at noon on July 24. Any reader can submit a local restaurant option serving catfish for the vote.
