These 3 MS Coast cities are among the most dangerous in the state, report says. Here’s why

Three cities on the Mississippi Coast recently ranked among some of the most dangerous cities in the state, according to a report.

The report by Reolink, an electronics brand specializing in home security cameras and systems, found the most dangerous cities in the Magnolia State based on the most recent federal and state crime data, according to analysts.

Pascagoula, Moss Point and Gautier all showed up on the ranking of the top 10 most dangerous cities, with 43.2, 22.7 and 25 total crimes per 1,000 residents, respectively.

Here’s how the coastal cities compared to other dangerous cities in Mississippi, according to Reolink.

These are the top 10 most dangerous cities in Mississippi based on their combined violent and property crime rates per 1,000 residents, according to Reolink:

1. Laurel

Total crimes: 60 per capita

Violent offenses: 10.2

Property crimes: 49.3

2. Jackson

Total crimes: 40.5 per capita

Violent offenses: 5.2

Property crimes: 35.3

3. Pascagoula

Total crimes: 43.2 per capita

Violent offenses: 2.2

4. Vicksburg

Total crimes: 39.6 per capita

5. Natchez

How did electronics brand find the safest and most dangerous MS cities?

Reolink analyzed data from the FBI and state crime dashboards and weighed violent attacks, break-ins and car thefts against each city’s population, analysts said.
