Good news for South Mississippians: the best barbecue in the state also has the best prices in the state, according to a new report.

The Shed Barbecue & Blues Joint was named the best restaurant in Mississippi for “good, cheap” barbecue, according to a July 3 report by Cheapism, a consumer advice and lifestyle news website.

Located in Ocean Springs, The Shed also recently won Southern Living’s “Best in the State” award for their barbecue, the Sun Herald reported in March.

The 9,570 sq. ft. restaurant is a family-owned spot located in Ocean Springs that embraces “old school, down-home southern, tacky charm,” according to the restaurant’s website.

Along with the food, locals love the easy-going vibe and live music events.

On a May 2024 visit to the restaurant, the Sun Herald reported that the barbecue lived up to the hype.

“The ribs were unbelievably tender and tasteful,” according to the report.

Here’s what Cheapism said about the restaurant:

“The Shed BBQ & Blues Joint pairs slow-smoked barbecue with a relaxed Gulf Coast atmosphere that keeps travelers returning year after year. Rustic décor, live music, and casual outdoor seating help create an experience that feels far more memorable than a typical roadside stop.”
