If there’s one dish Mississippians don’t play about, it’s catfish.

In 2025, the Magnolia State ranked first in the country for production of farm-raised catfish, yielding more than 65% of the fish, according to the Mississippi Department of Agriculture & Commerce.

Recently, catfish — both fried and blackened — was recognized as the state’s favorite dish by National Geographic.

When the Sun Herald reported this recognition in June, we received a lot of feedback from our readers. So, we wanted to take an opportunity to ask readers directly which spot they think is the best on the Coast for catfish.

How will this work?

Readers will have one week to submit any restaurant on the Coast serving catfish to the voting form below. On July 14, we’ll move to two rounds of voting.

The first round will be open for three days, through the end of the day on July 19, and will include all submissions. Then, we’ll narrow down which restaurants are in the top three for a final round of voting from July 20 through the end of the day July 23.

The winner will be announced at noon on July 24. Any reader can submit a local restaurant option serving catfish for the vote.

This is not a scientific poll or survey — it’s just for fun! If you have more than one favorite (or want to vote for your all-time favorite spot more than once), you are welcome to refresh this webpage and submit another vote.

We are looking for local recommendations, so chain restaurants that have more than 25 locations are/will be excluded.
