A long weekend is ahead for many Americans as the country celebrates 250 years of independence.

Whether you’re celebrating with a beach day or a neighborhood cook out, it’s important to know which retail stores will be open and closed for the holiday on the Mississippi Coast.

Here’s a round of the major grocery chains in the area that plan to close along with those that will remain open on July 4th.

Which stores are open on July 4th?

  • Walmart: All stores open normal hours on Independence Day. The chain famously only closes stores on Thanksgiving and Christmas
  • Target: Open normal hours on Independence Day, according to the D’Iberville store’s web page
  • Kroger: All stores are open on Independence Day, according to a banner on the retailer’s website
  • Whole Foods: Certain stores will be open limited hours on Independence Day, according to the chain. The Whole Foods in Jackson will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the holiday, according to the store’s webpage.
  • Aldi: stores will be open limited hours on Memorial Day, according to the chain’s website. Check your local store’s webpage to see hours; most stores on the Mississippi Coast are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Which stores are closed on July 4th?

  • Costco: All warehouses will be closed on Independence Day. The chain also closes all locations for New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, according to its website. There is one Costco location in Mississippi near Jackson
