It’s been a soggy start to summer in South Mississippi, and while there may be a few scattered showers in the forecast the weather should get a little drier in time for the 4th of July holiday, forecasters said.
“The pattern is setting up for a return to slightly drier to near normal rain potential; however, temperatures look like they will be above normal heading towards the 4th of July,” forecasters at the National Weather Service New Orleans said in a June 22 post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

June 28: High of 92 degrees Fahrenheit, low of 78 degrees Fahrenheit
June 29: 94 degrees, 78 degrees
June 30: 94 degrees, 77 degrees with scattered showers and thunderstorms
July 1: 90 degrees, 77 degrees with scattered thunderstorms
July 2: 92 degrees, 79 degrees with scattered showers and thunderstorms
July 3: 92 degrees, 79 degrees with scattered thunderstorms in the morning
July 4: 92 degrees, 78 degrees with scattered thunderstorms
What was the weather in South MS like last year?
The 4th of July holiday was slightly cooler in 2025, with temperatures in the high 80s at the start of the week and lowering during the holiday weekend, according to The Weather Channel.
The high on July 4, 2025, was 83 degrees Fahrenheit and the low was 69 degrees Fahrenheit, weather records shows.
