Three of the “most welcoming” towns in the United States are in the South — and one is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, according to a recent ranking by World Atlas.

Located about a 29-mile drive southwest from Biloxi, Bay St. Louis is a town known for the warmth and welcoming nature of its residents, per World Atlas.

“Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, is a resilient community, having been destroyed by hurricanes more than once, but always bouncing back better and brighter,” according to the ranking.

Bay St. Louis has a population of just over 10,600 people, according to the most recent estimates by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The town is among the best places to live and the top place to retire in the Magnolia State, according to rankings by Niche, an online ranking platform for schools, colleges and neighborhoods across the U.S.
