What is hantavirus? Should MS folks be concerned about recent outbreak?
A recent outbreak of a rare and often fatal disease aboard a cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean has raised concerns across the globe.
As of May 4, seven confirmed cases and five suspected cases of hantavirus have been reported from the cruise ship — which carries passengers from multiple countries — along with three deaths, the World Health Organization said in a May 4 news release.
“The outbreak is being managed through coordinated international response, and includes in-depth investigations, case isolation and care, medical evaluation and laboratory investigations,” the WHO said in the release.
