Child, 9, dies from injuries sustained in two-vehicle crash, authorities say

A 9-year-old boy died in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday on Highway 43 in Pearl River County, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Another child, age 5, was injured, along with the driver of a 2009 Honda Civic, Reina Ramirez.

The crash occurred around 7 a.m. when a northbound 1998 Dodge Ram, driven by Kevin Sherman, 60, of Picayune, collided with a 2009 Honda Civic driven by Ramirez. The Civic was traveling south on Salem Road. Ramirez’s two sons were passengers in her car.

Sherman and the two children were transported to a hospital with injuries. The 9-year-old boy died at the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
