South MS Powerball player misses jackpot by one number. Here’s what they won
A South Mississippi Powerball player missed out on a $195 million jackpot by one number Wednesday, according to the Mississippi Lottery.
The player, who was not named, won $50,000 in the drawing with a ticket purchased at Keith’s Super Store No. 80 in Lucedale. It also extends to three the streak of Mississippi players missing out on the jackpot by just one number.
On Monday, a ticket purchased at Circle K No. 270515 in Southaven also matched four white balls and the Powerball in the regular Powerball drawing to win $50,000.
The streak began with a Double Play win Saturday, when a ticket purchased at Sprint Mart No. 9 in Fulton matched four white balls plus the Powerball in the Double Play drawing. The $1 Double Play add-on gave the player a second chance to win and paid off with a $50,000 prize.
Three drawings, three winners, and different paths to the same $50,000 prize highlight the variety of ways Mississippi players can win with Powerball.
With no jackpot winner during this stretch, the Powerball jackpot for Saturday, April 4, climbs to an estimated $217 million jackpot, with an estimated cash value of $97.4 million.
