It’s hard to beat the freshness of seafood pulled straight from the Gulf Coast, so it comes as no surprise that Mississippi’s best fish sandwich can be found at a restaurant right along its shores.

Mashed, a food publication, recently published the best places to go for a fish sandwich in each state according to reviews from critics and diners.

The spot Mashed picked for Mississippi is a local favorite with a few locations along the Coast and will likely sound familiar if you’ve spent time in the area.

Shaggy’s has best fish sandwich in MS

Shaggy’s is an award-winning seafood restaurant with locations in Biloxi, Gulfport, Pass Christian, Brandon and Pensacola Beach in Florida, according to the restaurant’s website.

“Not only do diners love the waterfront views, but the menu is also robust with a variety of seafood, including Captain’s Catch flounder sandwich or a po’boy that includes your choice of shrimp, unicorn fish, or gator if you are feeling adventurous,” according to Mashed.

Shaggy’s owner Ron Lader opened the first location on the Pass Harbor in 2007, about two years after Hurricane Katrina destroyed much of the area, according to the restaurant’s website.

“Our town desperately needed a place where we could all gather and visit over a cocktail and good food,” Ladder said.
