Two Mississippi brothers are among the wealthiest people in the world, according to a recent Forbes ranking.
Forbes’ World’s Billionaires List is an annual ranking of the wealthiest figures in the world. The 2026 list grew by 400 people, with the most billionaires coming from the United States, according to the outlet.
The Mississippians who made the list are James and Thomas Duff, brothers who live in Hattiesburg and have a combined net worth of more than $8 billion, according to Forbes.

James and Thomas Duff are tied at 954th-wealthiest people in the world, according to Forbes’ 2026 World’s Billionaires List.
The brothers confounded and co-own a holding company called Duff Capital Investors which brings in a $6 billion revenue from more than 20 businesses, according to Forbes. In 2003, they bought back Southern Tire Mart, a tire company founded by their father, Ernest Duff, that sells more than 4 million new tires and 2.5 million truck tires annually, the outlet reported.
