The median income of the wealthiest county in Mississippi is about 43% higher than the statewide mark and 0.3% higher than the national median income, according to a recent financial analysis.
Madison County — which includes Madison, Ridgeland, Canton, Gluckstadt, Flora and parts of Jackson — has the highest combined median income, investment income, median home value and wealth index in the state, making it the wealthiest county, according to the analysis by financial website SmartAsset.
The county’s median income is about 145% higher than Quitman County, the state’s poorest county, the analysis found.
