Nearly 20 states will increase their minimum wage starting Jan. 1, 2026 — the first year more workers will live in states with a minimum wage of at least $15, an analysis found.

But will Mississippi’s minimum wage of $7.25 be affected?

What is Mississippi’s minimum wage in 2026?

Mississippi’s minimum wage of $7.25 will remain the same in 2026.

The last time the Magnolia State’s minimum wage was raised was in 2009 when the federal minimum wage was raised from $6.55 per hour to $7.25, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

This is because Mississippi is one of the states that does not have a state minimum wage law, according to the agency.

  • Montana: from $10.55 to $10.85
  • Minnesota: $11.13 to $11.41
  • Michigan: $12.48 to $13.73
  • New York: from $15.50 (outside of New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County and Westchester County) to $16.00
  • Rhode Island: from $15.00 to $16.00
  • Connecticut: from $16.35 to $16.94
  • New Jersey: from $15.49 to $15.92
  • Ohio: from $10.70 to $11.00
  • South Dakota: from $11.50 to $11.85
