Christmas holiday will disrupt MS Coast garbage pickups. Here’s the schedule
Several offices and services will be closed for Christmas, including government offices, garbage collection, libraries and public transportation.
Here’s what to expect over the Christmas holiday so you can plan ahead.
Garbage Collection
Harrison County:
No trash will be picked up on Christmas Day, instead routes will run a day behind, according to a Dec. 1 Harrison County Utility Authority news release.
Jackson County:
Jackson County also will not have garbage and recycling services on Christmas Day, and services also run a day schedule, according to a Dec. 10 county news release.
The County Landfill on Seaman Road will be closed Dec. 23 through 26 and Dec. 30 through Jan. 1, according to the release.
Coastal Environmental Services:
Coastal Environmental Services, which collects trash for residents in Bay St. Louis, Diamondhead, Waveland and Unincorporated areas of Hancock County will not run routes on Christmas Day.
The company will run routes a day behind starting Dec. 26, according to a Dec. Facebook post.
Waste Pro:
Waste Pro, which services Gulfport and the nearby area, will not collect trash and recycling on Christmas Day. The company will also run services a day behind, according to their website.
Government Offices
Government offices will be closed on Christmas Day.
Libraries
Hancock County Library System:
All libraries will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, according to the library system’s website calendar.
Harrison County Library System:
All libraries will close at 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) and remain closed on Christmas Day, according to the library system’s website calendar.
Jackson-George Regional Library System:
Libraries will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, according to the library system’s website calendar.
Public Transit
There will be no Coast Transit Authority service on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, according to the company’s website.
