A Mississippi store was named one of the 50 best clothing stores in America, according to a recent New York Times list.

Hinton & Hinton, a men’s and women’s specialty clothing store located in Oxford, was included among a list of 50 stores across the country that “are surprising and satisfying” and “keep alive the thrill of in-person shopping,” according to the list.

The family-owned shop sits on the historic Square in Oxford, surrounded by a cluster of lively restaurants, bars and shops.

“Forrest Hinton and his son Steve serve customers at various life stages and income levels at Hinton & Hinton, their charming Southern haberdashery,” the New York Times reported. “The store, which also sells women’s wear, has the feel of a comforting cavern, with clothes covering every available wall and surface in its several rooms.”

Here’s what to know about the store.

Where is the store located?

Hinton & Hinton is located at 135 Courthouse Sq., Oxford, MS 38655. The shop is on the Square next to some highly regarded restaurants, including Ajax Diner and City Grocery, which were both included on the Michelin Guide American South’s recommended restaurant list, the Biloxi Sun Herald reported.

What exactly can you find in the store?

Some of the brands shoppers can find in the store include the following: Barbour, Citizens of Humanity, David Donahue, Faherty, Rails, Free People, Gather Goods, Odette and Zadig & Voltaire.

A full list of brands carried is available on the store’s website.

How did NYT come up with best clothing stores list?

The New York Times’ 50 best clothing stores in America list was produced by a team of 11 reporters and editors who judged stores based on inventory, curation, proprietorship, customer service, ambience, location and payoff, according to the outlet.

The 50 stores on the list were all visited by reporters and photographers and none of them paid for “promotion or inclusion,” according to the list.
