Do parents ever change their baby’s name?
Yes. Occasionally, parents regret the name they chose for their child enough to change it, according to a separate BabyCenter survey.
Nearly 10% of moms regret the name they gave their child and about 6% of moms have changed their baby’s legal first or last legal name, the survey found.
Some reasons mothers regret their baby’s name are the following, according to the survey:
- Grown to prefer a nickname or middle name
- Someone mocked the name they chose
- The child’s personality didn’t suit the chosen name
- A different name is easier to pronounce
