New wave of ‘No Kings’ anti-Trump protests planned in MS soon. Here’s when and where
Nationwide “No Kings” demonstrations against the Trump administration are set to take place for a second time this year on Oct. 18.
About 2,000 demonstrations took place in all 50 states June 14, on the same day of President Donald Trump’s birthday and military parade celebrating the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary, McClatchy News reported.
Six events are scheduled to take place in Mississippi. Here’s what to know about the “No Kings” protests this fall.
What is ‘No Kings’?
“No Kings” is a movement planned by 50501 — a grassroots organization that started as a response to the actions of the Trump administration, which the organization views as “anti-democratic,” according to their website.
Earlier this year, the largely peaceful “No Kings” demonstrations happened as the president ramped immigration enforcement efforts, McClatchy News reported.
Now, the demonstrations look to tackle multiple Trump administration policies, including immigration, healthcare, environmental protections and education, according to organizers.
“Since the inauguration, the Trump administration and its enablers have operated as though they have a mandate — but they don’t, and never did. They are going to extremes to empower the Trump administration and enrich themselves, while cutting jobs and services for the rest of us,” organizers said on the website.
