This MS restaurant is among the best ‘hidden gems’ in the US, Tripadvisor says
A Mississippi restaurant that serves American bar food and a wide selection of beer has been named one of the best “hidden gems” in the United States, according to Tripadvisor, a travel guidance company.
“You have to get a bit off the beaten path to find these spots, but they certainly earn their winner status in both taste and local charm,” Tripadvisor said in its ranking.
Blue Canoe in Tupelo ranked among the best 25 restaurant hidden gems in the country on Tripadvisor’s Traveler’s Choice Awards.

Blue Canoe serves “mostly hands-on bar food” and has a selection of more than 100 beers, according to the restaurant’s website.
The restaurant also boasts having a top 10 burger in the state and being a winner of the best dessert in the state from the Mississippi Magazine three years in a row.
Blue Canoe has a Tripadvisor ranking of 4.6 stars, receiving high praise for the “laid-back” atmosphere, live music, creative menu and friendly staff, according to the ranking.

How did travel company come up with ranking?
Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best are given to places who received a “high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions” in a year-long period, according to the travel company.
Less than 1% of the 8 million listings receive the award, Tripadvisor said.
