What services are available Thanksgiving Day: MS Coast garbage pickup, libraries, more

In Harrison County, garbage service will not run on Thanksgiving Day. If your service day is Thursday, it will be skipped and run on your next service day. Recycle and bulk pickup will run one day behind.

Several offices and services will be affected by the holiday.

Here’s what to expect over the following week.

GARBAGE COLLECTION

Harrison County:

For Waste Management household trash, waste and recycling, all Thursday and Friday routes and will run a day late. Please, have carts at the curb by 6 a.m.

Jackson County:

The landfill will be closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The landfill will reopen Monday, Dec. 2.

Garbage and trash pickup will not run on the holiday. Thursday routes will be picked up Friday and Friday routes will be picked up Saturday.

Waste Pro:

Garbage, trash and recycling will not run Thursday and will run a day behind for the rest of the week.

Coastal Environmental Services:

Diamondhead, Bay St. Louis, Waveland, unincorporated areas of Hancock County: Garbage pick up will run regular routes from Monday to Wednesday and will not run Thursday. Thursday routes will run Friday and Friday routes will run Saturday. Please, have carts out by 4 a.m. on the pick up day.

GOVERNMENT OFFICES

All government offices will be closed Thursday.

LIBRARIES

Hancock County Library Library System: All five branches will be closed Thursday and Friday. The libraries have a free online service with access to audiobooks, periodicals, movies and general information. Online services are available 24/7.

Harrison County Library System: All branches will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, through Sunday, Dec. 1, and will reopen Monday.

Jackson-George Regional Library System: All branches will close early Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 5 p.m., and be closed Thursday, Nov. 28. Branches will reopen Monday, Dec. 2. Book drops will be open for returning items, and all online services will be available for cardholders’ renewals, holds, and e-services by visiting www.jgrls.org.

Pearl River County Library System: Closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Branches will return to regular schedules on Monday, Dec. 2.

Coast Transit Authority: All fixed route buses will operate on a Sunday time schedule on Thanksgiving, Nov. 28. Regular bus service will resume regular schedule on Friday.

The CTA office will close at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2. For additional information, call 228-896-8080 or visit www.coasttransit.com.
