From the editor: Timely news in Biloxi is crucial. We’ve got a new way to bring it to you

The Sun Herald is launching a new digital product today that truly sets us apart from other media companies in South Mississippi.

The new offering is called “Edition,” an improved electronic edition that newspaper fans will love, with up-to-date news that you can find daily.

No, Edition is not a print newspaper or a website. It’s also not just a digitized version of our print pages on your device, which is what we offer now in our E-Edition.

Edition is so much more.

It is more timely, it is more immersive and it is still curated by us, giving you the same feel you get when you sit down to read the paper every day.

And you’ll get a new version every morning. You’ll see our top stories front and center. You’ll find quality sports, lifestyle and national stories across our different sections.

Edition will adapt to your screens, whether you’re using a mobile phone, tablet, laptop or traditional desktop computer. It also can be downloaded for offline reading.

How are we now able to bring you more timely news?

Edition allows us to escape from rigid, early afternoon print deadlines to bring you coverage from throughout the day and night. The Edition is going to offer crucial reporting to our readers that even the print edition has not been able to deliver of late, bringing you fresher news from our team of South Mississippi journalists.

And it’ll look good, a true digital publishing product. You’ll get responsive tabbed pages that are easy to navigate and read. You’ll find interactive material like videos right there in the story. You’ll be able to quickly find any section of the paper you want.

And we haven’t forgotten the people who rely on us for entertainment. With Edition, you can immerse yourself in interactive puzzles, games and classic comics, all of which you can play or read on your screen. Or you can easily print out your favorite puzzles.

And, don’t worry, the regular print replica pages will still be in Edition, too.

The Edition is available to Sun Herald subscribers who can access it three ways. You can have a link sent to your email each day, or you can click on the link in the upper left corner of our website homepage at sunherald.com. Lastly, it’s also available on the Sun Herald app.

In my 30-plus years as a journalist, I’ve seen news and media consumption habits change plenty. Edition is our best attempt yet to give you a true digital product, beyond a website, that keeps up with today’s busy and hectic world.

I’m sure you will enjoy it.

If you have questions or feedback about the Edition, please contact our Customer Care team at 1-800-346-2472 or email customerservice@sunherald.com.
