Update: Westbound lanes of I-10 blocked near U.S. 49 after oil slick, crashes, police say
Westbound lanes of I-10 in Gulfport are shut down Tuesday morning after multiple crashes and an oil slick in the area, police said.
The closures are near the 34 mile-marker at Highway 49, Gulfport police tweeted.
About an hour later, the police department tweeted again that an oil slick has closed down lanes from the 38-mile marker to the Canal Road exit.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation expects delays in the area for about two hours, they said about 9:45 a.m.
It’s unclear if there are any injuries or fatalities related to the crashes. The Sun Herald has reached out to police for more information.
