An 18-wheeler’s failed attempt at a U-turn blocked both lanes of traffic on U.S. 90 at Gulf Avenue Tuesday afternoon. The lanes have since reopened.

The truck was stuck in the sand along the U.S. 90 shoulder, awaiting assistance.

Eastbound traffic was diverted while lanes were closed, according to the Gulfport Police Department.
