One person died Monday after he apparently lost control of his vehicle on Highway 90 near Midway Avenue, Gulfport.

Kenneth Daniel, 71, of Gulfport was the only person in the vehicle, said Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer, who arrived at the crash scene around 2:15 p.m.

The driver died at the scene from blunt force trauma, Switzer said. Daniel’s vehicle hit a curb and a retaining wall and then rolled, Switzer said. Daniel was not wearing a seatbelt, the coroner said.

Both westbound lanes and one eastbound lane of U.S. 90 were closed from Courthouse Road to Hewes Avenue, Gulfport Police said.
