See video from the scene where an 18-wheeler overturned on I-10 near Long Beach
Part of Interstate 10 in Harrison County was shut down for hours Saturday night after an 18-wheeler hauling steel fencing overturned.
Westbound lanes of the interstate near Exit 28 in Long Beach were closed for hours as crews worked to clear the roadway, the Mississippi Highway Patrol said in a tweet.
Pat Sullivan, chief for Harrison County Fire Services, said the 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound about 9 p.m. and left the roadway, crossed the median and overturned in the westbound lanes of the interstate.
The 18-wheeler did not strike any other vehicles as it crossed into traffic. The driver suffered minor injuries, Sullivan said.
Video provided from the scene by Sullivan shows the semi-truck spread across both westbound lanes and crews turning it back upright to clear it from the interstate.
The interstate was cleared in about two hours, Sullivan said.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including MHP, Harrison County Fire Services, Combat Readiness Training Center, Rescue 5 and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.
