MS Coast man is one of 4 missing after helicopter leaving oil rig crashes in Gulf

Breaking news update: The U.S. Coast Guard announced around 8:30 p.m. they suspended the search for David Scarborough and three others who went missing in a helicopter crash in the Gulf of Mexico. A recovery effort for their bodies will begin soon. Click here for the latest.

A Mississippi Coast man is one of four people missing after a helicopter crashed in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday, his wife confirmed to the Sun Herald.

The helicopter was reportedly leaving an oil platform when it went it down about 10 miles off Southwest Pass, Louisiana, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

Lacy Scarborough said her husband, David Scarborough, is one of the four people who were on the chopper.

David Scarborough worked offshore and was returning home at the time of the crash.

The Scarboroughs live in the Lizana community and are expecting a baby boy soon, she said.

The Coast Guard’s Heartland Division is searching for the missing people.

The Coast Guard is investigating. The Sun Herald will update this story when more information is available.
