Governor, state senator ask for prayers for Bay St. Louis police officers

People across the country responded to news of two Bay St. Louis Police officers killed in the line of duty Wednesday morning.

“When a police officer is killed, it’s not an agency that loses an officer... it is an entire nation,” read a Twitter post from former police dispatcher @AnnykaV.

Closer to home, thoughts and prayers went out as people woke to news of the loss.

State Sen. Scott DeLano asked for prayers. “Please pray for the fallen officers, their families, and the entire Bay St Louis Police Department. This is such a senseless tragedy,” he posted on Facebook

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves said he was heartbroken over the tragedy. “Every single day across Mississippi, our law enforcement members place their lives on the line in constant and repeated acts of selfless sacrifice for their community,” Reeves tweeted Wednesday morning. “I am praying for their family, friends, their fellow officers, and the entire Bay St. Louis community.
