Precious pups rescued in Pass Christian animal raid are ready for adoption. Meet them.

Many of the 70 animals rescued by law enforcement during a recent raid of a Pass Christian home are now available for adoption.

The Humane Society of South Mississippi posted pictures to Facebook of several of the precious pups that are now ready for new homes.

“Due to the large intake, many are still decompressing which is why we will be adopting them out in groups as they become available to meet potential adopters,” the Gulfport animal shelter said on Facebook. “We are doing our best to not add to their stress and giving them the appropriate time and space they need before exposing them to multiple interactions.”

Sixty-nine dogs and one cat were taken to the Humane Society on March 10 after the raid at a residence on East Second Street.

Ethel Ross, 56, and Richard Ross, 68, were arrested and charged with 70 counts of animal cruelty. The charges are misdemeanors.

A Pass Christian couple was arrested Friday and charged with 70 counts of animal cruelty after law enforcement seized 69 dogs and one cat from their Pass Christian home, police said. The arrests of Ethel Ross, 56, and Richard Ross, 68, after the animals were seized Thursday from their residence on East Second Street.

All of the dogs have been vaccinated, examined, put on flea, tick and heartworm prevention, and will be spayed or neutered and microchipped.

“It is evident in their eyes that they now have hope of a better tomorrow, and we have made them that promise,” HSSM said. “We know there is a special person or family out there for each one of these pets. Please consider changing their life for the better and being their forever hero.”

The Humane Society has rescued over 100 dogs total in three recent raids and is desperate for help, including monetary support, dog food, cleaning supplies, rags and towels.
