Thousands of people lined streets in downtown Biloxi on Fat Tuesday for the return of the Gulf Coast Carnival Association’s Mardi Gras parade.
Due to the pandemic, it was the first time the parade was held in two years, and parade-watchers didn’t hesitate to catch beads, toys and snacks tossed from the floats.
The parade, one of the Mississippi coast’s largest, was canceled in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The parade in 2020 was held just before the pandemic began.
Following the parade, GCCA announced in a Facebook post that 2023’s parade would be held on Feb. 21, 2023.
Here are some photos from the Sun Herald of this year’s festivities.
