Teen, 3 juveniles arrested after man left for dead in drug deal gone bad, Gulfport police say

A Gulfport teen is in custody on a $100,000 bond after a drug deal gone wrong left one man seriously injured on Wednesday, police said.

Tyson Caden Presley, 18, is charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident causing death or injury after he allegedly left a man he was buying drugs from seriously injured in a parking lot, according to a press release from the Gulfport Police Department.

Police said officers responded to Hendry Road on Wednesday afternoon in reference to what was believed to be a shooting. Hendry Road is just off Dedeaux Road in the Orange Grove community.

When they arrived, officers found a man lying unresponsive in the parking lot. The man was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

Detectives determined that Presley and three juveniles had left the man after having gone to that location for a drug deal, according to the press release.

During the drug deal, one of the juveniles with Presley grabbed the drugs and ran off, causing Presley to drive away, police said. The man had grabbed Presley’s rear driver-side door as he drove off. He then lost his grip and fell, causing a severe head injury.

Police said Presley then fled the scene and did not call emergency services for the man or check to see if he was injured.

Shortly after the incident, police located Presley and the three juveniles believed to be involved in the incident.

The three juveniles were transported to the Harrison County Youth Detention Center and charged with accessory after the fact. Presley was taken to the Harrison County Adult jail.
