See video, photos from across the MS Coast as Space X fireball lights up the night sky

Mississippi Coast residents experienced a magical moment Monday night as a crew of astronauts made their way home to Earth on a spaceship.

After spending more than 6 months at the International Space Station, the Space X Dragon Endeavor returned home Monday, making a safe water landfall off the Florida coast around 9:30 p.m., according to the New York Times.

In South Mississippi, Coast residents got to see a flash of fiery light across the night sky as the rocket made its way to the East Coast.

The fireball was brighter than a shooting star and lasted longer, too. People watched in Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties, sharing photos and video of the Space X return on Facebook.

Photographer Fred Salinas captured a photo of the fireball from the Ocean Springs waterfront.

Others took video in Biloxi and Hancock County.

Here’s what the fireball looked like on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. You can check out more official photos from NASA by clicking here to see their Flickr account.
