Railroad crossings to close for repairs in Hancock, Jackson counties
Upcoming CSX rail replacement projects could lengthen daily commutes across the Mississippi Coast starting Monday.
Impacted areas include approximately 10 crossings between Ocean Springs and Gautier, in addition to 50 miles of tracks between Pass Christian and New Orleans.
Each crossing will be closed for two to three days, though that’s subject to change based on various factors. Crossings with double tracks will be closed for longer periods of time and could potentially be closed twice. Construction on both segments is expected to last two to three weeks.
“CSX appreciates the public’s patience while we complete this important work, which is critical to ensuring the safety of motorists using these crossings and operating a safe, efficient freight rail network,” a CSX spokesperson said.
A few crossings will be worked on after the production teams have passed, or on a later date, and they have been designated as “worked later” in the list.
