Gulfport man shot in stomach after being robbed on the street, police say

A 25-year-old man was shot during an early-morning shooting and robbery on Tuesday, Gulfport police say.

A man was walking in the 1700 block of 65th Avenue before 3 a.m. when he was met by two men, Sgt. Clayton Fulks said. The men demanded property from him and then shot him as he fled, Fulks said.

The man got into his vehicle and drove himself to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his abdomen, Fulks said.
