Want a direct route to a Southerner’s heart? Mention crawfish.

The tasty little crustaceans know how to unite the masses — particularly along the Gulf Coast.

With that in mind, New Orleans artist Aaron Angelo has started selling “MAKE CRAWFISH $1.97/LB AGAIN” hats modeled after the “Make America Great Again” hats Donald Trump’s campaign used during the 2016 presidential election.

“Hate’em or Love’em, nothing wrong with having a little fun with this statement piece,” he posted on the ETSY page for his NOLAOnePointFiveArt business.

“I shared a picture of the hat with my friends on Reddit and people really wanted them. I made 20 hats and they sold out in about two days. Now, we are making 20 more,” Angelo told KSLA in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Angelo told the TV station the hat’s all in good fun and isn’t meant to be overly political.

“I hope this will make people take a pause and reflect that maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to judge someone based on what they’re wearing,” he said. “I want people to get back to the business of just liking everybody.”

Desportes Seafood Market set up a temporary crawfish stand in February 2018 on Eisenhower Drive in West Biloxi because road construction at their main store on Division Street has hurt business.
