South Mississippians, check those photos on your phones.

You might have one worthy of the next Mississippi Department of Marine Resources calendar.

The DMR has announced its photo contest for the 2018 calendar, and the deadline to submit an entry is Sept. 29.

“The Mississippi Coast has many talented photographers, both professional and amateur, and we want to be able to showcase their work in our annual calendar,” said Melissa Scallan, Public Affairs director for MDMR.

Your photo should depict something about marine resources on the Coast. That includes marine plant and animal life, recreational and commercial fishing, marsh areas, boating, Coastal preserves, even Mississippi seafood.

Submitted photos need to be high resolution, at least 300 dpi, and 8.5 inches tall and 11 inches wide. Include the photographer’s name, phone number and a description of the photo and where it was taken. Entries should be digital. Photos submitted for MDMR’s 2017 calendar are not eligible. All entries will become the property of MDMR and may be used in other promotions.

Email entries and the requested information to Francesca. Linthicum@dmr.ms.gov by 5 p.m. Sept. 29.
