Storm knocks out power in Long Beach, Gulfport
A brief but strong thunderstorm Monday evening caused several power outages in Long Beach and disabled a few traffic lights on U.S. 49 in Gulfport.
Harrison County Fire Marshal Pat Sullivan said the storm disabled two or three traffic lights along U.S. 49 north of Interstate 10.
The traffic light outages are near Orange Grove Road, according to Mississippi Power’s electrical outage map. The company estimates the lights should be up and running before 10 p.m.

In Long Beach, about 15 customers on Suffolk Drive are without electricity and an overhead transformer is out on West Old Pass Road near 4th Avenue. Mississippi Power estimates restoration by 10:30 p.m.
