Coronavirus cases get closer to the Coast with patient in Pearl River County

The Mississippi State Department of Health on Friday evening identified the locations of two new cases of the new coronavirus: Pearl River County near the Coast and Copiah County.

At a press conference at 4:30 p.m. Friday, MSDH officials gave details on four of the six total cases in the state, but said they learned of two new cases just before the press conference.

The new details are that two women over 65 in Pearl River and Copiah counties have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been hospitalized.

The six total cases are:

  • March 13 - Copiah County - Woman over 65 in hospital
  • March 13 - Pearl River County - Woman over 65 in hospital
  • March 13 - Leflore County - Woman in home isolation
  • March 13 - Forrest County - Man in home isolation
  • March 13 - Forrest County - Woman over 65 in hospital
  • March 11 - Forrest County - Man in home isolation

Louisiana was reporting 67 cases as of Saturday afternoon, Nola.com reports. Alabama had six cases as of Friday afternoon.
