Mississippi has its first case of the new coronavirus, the State Department of Health announced in a press release Wednesday evening.

The patient has tested positive for COVID-19, and the test will be sent to the Centers for Disease Control for confirmation.

The patient is a man from Forrest County who recently traveled to Florida. The man was not hospitalized, but self-quarantined at his home. Forrest County’s largest city is Hattiesburg.

State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs said more information would be released at a press conference at 11 a.m. Thursday. Find out what was said at the press conference here.

There are only 11 states without a case of coronavirus.
