It’s been two years since the start of the pandemic, and COVID-19 cases have recently declined across the state of Mississippi and on the Coast.
The first case of COVID was reported by the Mississippi Department of Health on March 11, 2020. As of Wednesday, there have been 792,129 total cases of the virus in the state, with 12,228 deaths.
Mississippi has gone through several waves of COVID, including the deadly delta variant and extremely contagious omicron.
For many residents on the Coast, the long-term health effects from contracting the coronavirus linger. From loss of taste to breathing issues to serious ailments, COVID-19 has left its mark on many families.
