After 18 years with WLOX-TV, popular “Good Morning Mississippi” anchor Meggan Gray announced on Facebook that she would be leaving her position over the station’s COVID-19 vaccine policy.

Gray Television, the parent company of WLOX, required all employees be vaccinated against the coronavirus by Sept. 30 or face termination.

Gray, who is not vaccinated, decided to part ways with the company, prompting thousands of reactions from viewers and residents in a viral social media post.

Hundreds of comments flooded a Sun Herald Facebook post about Gray’s departure. Many wished Gray well and shared sadness over not seeing her report the news in the mornings anymore.

WLOX-TV isn’t the only workplace on the Mississippi Gulf Coast with a vaccine mandate. Ingalls Shipbuilding, based in Pascagoula, and Stennis Space Center in Hancock County are both enforcing a mandate set by the Biden administration that requires their employees to be fully vaccinated.
