Coast’s 7-day average of new COVID cases falls below 100. But deaths haven’t slowed.
The Mississippi State Department of Health on Saturday reported 825 new coronavirus cases and 37 new deaths.
Six of the deaths were identified from death certificates between July 30 and Aug. 6, including one in Harrison County.
There is also one new death in Pearl River County.
In the lower six counties, there were 104 new COVID-19 cases added, bringing total to 7,108.
But the Coast’s seven-day average has fallen below 100 for the first time since mid-July, with Saturday’s average at 94.
The state’s seven-day average continues to fall and is at its lowest since early July.
However, deaths on the Coast and throughout the state have not slowed.
State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs said Friday that this week a teenager with no underlying conditions died of coronavirus, as well as a pregnant woman in her early 20s.
