D’Iberville Mexican lunch spot closes temporarily after COVID exposure
A popular Mexican lunch spot in D’Iberville has closed after employees came into contact with COVID-19 last week, according to a note on the front door of Burrito Zone & Tamales.
It is one of multiple restaurants on the Coast that have closed as a precautionary measure after employees have come into contact with the coronavirus.
The restaurant serves guests from behind a large, plexiglass barrier where employees make burritos, tacos to order and have tamales during lunch hours throughout the week. The location also required masks for service during the COVID-19 mask mandate set by Gov. Tate Reeves.. The closure only affects the D’Iberville location.
“We have decided to close our location to ensure that we do not inadvertently spread the virus,” the note said.
The closure comes after two weeks of record-breaking coronavirus cases, with more than 1,000 almost every day last week reported. Harrison County has added 1,149 new cases in July.
The restaurant said it will provide updates on when the D’Iberville location will reopen on their Facebook page.
