Need PPE? Here’s where to get Mississippi-made masks, hand sanitizer and more
Businesses, schools, churches and other groups that need personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic can shop Mississippi-made products on an internet hub the state created.
Gov. Tate Reeves said at his news conference Wednesday that the country has relied for too long on China to produce PPE.
“Today,” he said, “there are many small businesses throughout Mississippi who are stepping up, competing and offering these critical goods.”
A website created by the state, ms-ppe.org, lists vendors, their websites and what they sell. The website also allows Mississippi PPE providers to sign up for potential inclusion on the list and offers tips on buying PPE.
The 17 companies listed provide everything from hand sanitizer and various grades of masks to face shields, table dividers, disposable gowns, surgical gowns, forehead thermometers, cleaning materials and sanitizing machines.
The Governor’s Commission for Economic Recovery, Restart Mississippi, came up with the idea for the website. The commission, established in April, includes representatives from across the state.
Restart Mississippi is working on recovery needs in the fields of agriculture, construction, education, energy, finance, hospitality and manufacturing, and also studying the impact of COVID-19 on the state’s minority and small businesses.
