608 new coronavirus cases reported in MS over last 2 days. Take a look at Coast data.
The Mississippi Health Department announced a two-day total of 608 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday after not sending out numbers on Thursday due to technical difficulties.
There were also 13 new deaths reported on Friday, but none were in South Mississippi.
In the state’s southernmost six counties, there were 21 new coronavirus cases reported and two were taken off the previous total for Pearl River County, which now sits at 219.
There were eight new cases reported in Harrison County.
As of Friday, there have been 19,091 cases reported with 881 deaths in Mississippi.
There are 486 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, with 171 in an intensive care unit and 94 on ventilators.
The total of Mississippians on ventilators dropped nine cases from the previous reported number.
State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs said Friday that Native Americans are almost eight times more likely to get COVID-19 than other Mississippians. They are also more likely to die from it.

Harrison — 319 (8 new)
Jackson — 344 (5 new)
Pearl River — 219 (2 fewer)
Stone — 34 (1 new)
