Biloxi to drop oyster, D'Iberville to raise pearl for New Year's Eve
This week, Biloxi and D'Iberville will join other cities across the country in having their own lighted, locally themed object to mark the start of the new year.
The Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum in Biloxi is planning a New Year's Eve Oyster Drop from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with live music by No Plain Jane. Food and drinks -- including hot cocoa, alcoholic beverages and soft drinks -- will be available for purchase; ice chests and outside food are prohibited. The outdoor event is free to the public and lawn chairs and blankets are recommended.
Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort also has announced "The Raising of the Pearl" at the stroke of midnight Thursday in D'Iberville. An illuminated pearl will rise into the air from the top of the 18-story hotel along with sparklers and "noiseless fireworks."
The casino also will have a balloon drop on the casino floor, with balloons containing Scarlet Pearl coupons and certificates. Karmilla Ali will perform from 7 p.m. to midnight on the property. There will be a New Year's Eve party in the Strand Entertainment Center featuring Papa C & the Slammin' Horns from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.; cost is $40 and includes three drinks.
At other casinos:
-- Beau Rivage Resort & Casino: Coast Nightclub's New Year's Eve Party will feature Avelon and DJ Blondie from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.; cost of $55 in advance, $65 at door includes champagne toast and party favors. The Molly Ringwalds will perform at 11 p.m. in the Beau Rivage Theatre. Dian Diaz will perform at 9 p.m. at EIGHT75 with free admission. New Year's Eve brunch and dinner will be in The Buffet with holiday menus through Jan. 3. Stallas has New Year's Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $45. BR Prime has a special menu Dec. 31 for $150.
-- Boomtown Casino: New Year's Eve buffet with jumbo snow crab and prime rib is $25.99 starting at 4 p.m. New Year's Day buffet with jumbo snow crab and champagne brunch is $29.99 starting at 10 a.m.
-- Golden Nugget Casino Biloxi: Groovy7 will perform at 10 p.m. in Grand Ballroom; $50 ticket includes free drinks.
-- Hard Rock Casino Biloxi: New Year's Eve party begins at 9 p.m. with Mixed Nuts & DJ Hyphee; $50 ticket includes entrance to Boogie Nights and Live #Remix. Perkins Road will perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in Center Bar.
-- Harrah's Casino Gulf Coast: Reno Perez will perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in Casino Stage Bar. Jesse Hill will perform from 5 to 11:30 p.m. in the Magnolia House bar. Magnolia House will offer a three-course special menu plus dessert for $75, $125 with champagne and alcohol.
-- Hollywood Casino: New Year's Eve celebration with celebrity impersonators, Stormy Band, party favors, champagne toast. New Year's Eve buffet with crab legs will be $25.99 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. New Year's Day buffet with crab legs is $25.99, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
-- IP Casino Resort: New Year's Eve party in Chill Ultra Lounge will start at 9 p.m. featuring Whiskey Kiss and DJ ROOP until 2 a.m.; tickets are $40 and include two drinks.
-- Island View Casino: Free music by STARZ will begin at 11:45 p.m. in the View Showroom with complimentary party favors and a countdown with a champagne toast on the casino floor.
-- Palace Casino: Special buffet from 4 to 11 p.m., $27 or $25 with players club card. Mignon's three-course gourmet dinner from 5 to 11 p.m., $85.
-- Silver Slipper Casino: Becky Eymard will perform at 6 p.m. and BB Secrist & His Rockin' 88s will perform at 10 p.m. in The Stage Bar.
-- Treasure Bay Casino: Four-course prix fixe menu for $65 at CQ. Champagne brunch on New Year's Day at infinity buffet from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., $23.39 with players club card plus tax.
